ePointz Hints

You are most likely being pushed to get all of your documents in order. This is very important. We need all of the forms signed and filled out. We also need physicals completed. If you have not scheduled this PLEASE do so today! Your child will not be able to practice without it!You should have been given Longo cards. These cards are $10 a piece and have over $150 worth of savings. The money for these cards are due by Thursday August 21st. they are real easy to sell and I know each player only has a few. We just purchased 130 new helmets and these fund raiser allow us to continue operating. The scheduling meeting was completed on Sunday so game schedules will be coming out in the next few days.I hope everyone is having fun!

A letter from the board:

Schedules are done! You can download the schedule from this site. Either download from below or click on the Handouts/Forms link to the left.

If you want to be added to the PYFL email distribution list please send an email to Tony Lauria lauria67@gmail.com .As long as you have a child playing in our league we will add you to the list. Just let Tony know the name and age of your child so he can verify that you can be added to the distribution list. Tony will then add you to the distribution list and you will receive periodic messages regarding our youth football program and upcoming events.

Changes:
· We are not handing out participation trophies this year. The kids get their jerseys to keep and we feel that the trophies don’t mean much to the kids. I know my son’s trophies have always been pushed into a closet someplace but his jersey he always wares.
· Banquet: We are thinking of hosting two banquets. A banquet for the Upper Division (all three teams) then a banquet for the Lower division (all three teams). These would be held at the Perry Community Center and would be a more formal event for the kids and parents. We are still in discussions about this and it’s not set in stone. This would allow us to bring in the High School coach and the Middle School coaches
· Team Moms: we are organizing the team moms to help each team in preparation for next year. If you know who your team moms are or you want to be a team mom please let us know.

If you have any suggestions or ideas please let us know. If you ever have any questions, comments or issues you can contact anyone on the board. The board wants open discussions so please let us know if you have any suggestions or concerns.

Concussion Baseline Testing

Testing for concussions. The Cleveland Clinic has an online test your child should take prior to the beginning of each season. By taking this ImPACT prior to the season you will be able to have a baseline for where your child’s brain function is at. Concussions are sometimes difficult to diagnose but using this tool greatly helps in the diagnosis and the treatment of concussions. See the information below. To go to the ImPACT just click on the link below.

Take the ImPACT Baseline Test

What Is ImPACT:
ImPACT (Immediate Post-concussion and Cognitive Testing) is a 25-30 minute state-of-the art software program designed to detect the presence of sports concussions.

How ImPACT Works:
Unlike most hospitals that use conventional imaging technology, such as CT and MRI scans which do not detect concussion, Cleveland Clinic Sports Health employs proven, state-of-the-art computer technology called ImPACT to make a more precise diagnosis. Here’s how ImPACT works:

Before a sports season begins, neuropsychologists administer ImPACT testing to obtain baseline data of an athlete’s symptoms, memory, reaction time, and other cognitive function.
If an athlete sustains a concussion during the season, he or she undergoes another ImPACT test. By comparing these results to his or her pre-season baseline data, neuropsychologists can determine the severity of concussion and design an appropriate treatment plan.
The athlete, if needed, then meets with a Cleveland Clinic Sports Health physician for a concussion rehabilitation program, and this information is shared with the primary care physician, athletic trainer and coach.
ImPACT testing may be administered again to determine when an athlete can safely return to play.

If You Already Have a Concussion:
If you suspect you have a concussion, or have been diagnosed with a concussion and would like a second opinion, the Sports Concussion Program can help. Even without baseline testing, ImPACT testing allows us to make a more accurate diagnosis and develop a comprehensive treatment and recovery plan.
